New Podcast: Our Strength Training Hot Takes
Plus: "Dumb" phones as a new Gen Z trend, important advice for women runners over 45, and what happens when you replace coffee with energy drinks...
Do I skip leg day?
I may or may not have admitted that I do on this week’s podcast, as Abbie and I shared our strength training hot takes.
Some of the fun questions we debated this week:
Home gym or gym membership?
What’s the single most useless exercise?
If you could only do one exercise for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Beyond the fun hot takes, Abbie and I had a wide-ranging conversation on strength training. I talked about how my approach to strength training has changed from my 20s and 30s, and Abbie shared her experiences as a relative newcomer to lifting heavier. We also discussed how to balance lifting with running and cardio, and whether people over 40 are actually lifting heavy enough.
This week’s “Warm Up” also contains some fun stories, including a discussion on why some Gen Zers are switching to "dumb" phones and what one man experienced during a chaotic week trading coffee for energy drinks.
Abbie also shared an intriguing article with important strength training advice every woman runner over 45 needs to hear.
