Closing Time: Last Call For Alcohol

On this week's podcast, we decided to stop drinking alcohol. Or not.

A fascinating but true fact: studies show that people who are more active also drink more. There’s even a link between so-called “heavy” drinkers and physical activity.

When you think about it, it makes sense. We’re all familiar with the concept of sports teams partying hard after a big victory, and who hasn’t rewarded themselves with a few drinks after a long workout?

As much as I often think I deserve a few drinks after a good run, my relationship with alcohol is beginning to change as I age. I enjoy having a bourbon or two, but as I’ve moved into my mid-40s, I’ve become much more cognizant of how alcohol impacts my sleep, and how I might feel the day after a few drinks.

Abbie and I discuss this dynamic on this week’s episode of the podcast, and take a look at what the science says about how alcohol impacts your muscles and cardiovascular fitness as you age.
